Nesting

Nesting.

You hear it all the time. A term used by mostly Mom’s to refer it as the urge to clean and organize to prepare for your new baby. I am 6 months pregnant and have hit “nesting mode”. I need to clean out my closet which I have already done twice this year. The problem with the first time is I cleaned it out to create space for the smaller closet I moved into, once I start living with my then boyfriend and now husband. The second time was because I couldn’t find anything and felt like I had nothing to wear. This third time is a mix of I still can’t find anything to wear and then realization that I am not ever going to wear this.

I found myself in bed the other night getting spammed by cute boutique dresses on Instagram. I look at my husband and yell “DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO GET TROLLED BY CUTE CLOTHES YOU CAN’T EVEN WEAR BECAUSE YOU ARE PREGNANT?!

He calmly replies. No.

I mean look at the dress as I shove my iPhone directly into his face. Followed by a cringe of FOMO. He coolly says… “Just buy the dress.”

I did buy the dress and one more, just because... YOLO. Then I realized that I had to get my shit in order. I have a fabulous wardrobe that I am not even wearing because first, I am pregnant, and secondly, I can’t find anything that’s crammed into this tiny closet. I love our house and while big closets are my thing. I am determined to adapt to my surroundings and show my husband I can be practical, stylish, and a Mom. As I opened my Pinterest this morning to find articles on how to declutter, articles flowed in on how to beat the guilt.

My mouse hoovered over a few different articles as I also realized... Oh my god. I have guilt! Guilt of the money I spent, guilt of tossing the gift that was giving, guilt of buying something for that one “occasion” that’s never actually happened. I’m not even sure what that occasion is. A cocktail party? A surprise birthday party, for myself…? I thought I would be Kim K at one point. I mean who knows what crazy logic I had running through my mind as I bought those shoes or that dress. Let’s not talk about the hats.

All I know is that here I am. Avoiding the guilt of declutter by blogging. Grasping to find motivation to start nesting and spiraling as usually because I am a first time Mom and feel completely unprepared. Luckily, I have a husband who know to respond with “Buy the dress”. It’s enabling, comforting, and downright sweet that he knows not to poke the bear in these certain meltdown situations.  Your body changes so much and while he thinks I’m one hot momma. I feel like a puffy, swollen, blob of cellulite. That’s achy, gassy, and always hungry.

So, my goal for today is to get this dream wardrobe in order so I can feel like Kim K. while dressing for my real life and still killing it as a Mom. Yes… words of encouragement are welcomed.
