ABOUT
Hi, I’m Kara.
Years ago, I started Searching for a Pineapple as a place to put words to the life I was living—the funny parts, the hard parts, the growing pains, and all the moments that didn’t fit neatly into a caption.
The name came from my aunt. When I was young, she would ask me if I had found a pineapple yet. Pineapple was our code word for a suitor to marry. I hadn't, obviously, but the question stuck. Over time, searching for a pineapple became less about finding a person and more about finding myself.
Then life got busy.
I became a wife. A mother. A working mom. A professional. A woman carrying more roles than I sometimes knew what to do with. Somewhere in the middle of building a life, I stopped writing about it.
And then life changed again.
I'm returning to this space years later with more stories, more perspective, a few more laugh lines, and considerably less interest in pretending I have everything figured out.
This isn't a blog about having the answers.
It's about motherhood and identity. Careers and ambition. Relationships and endings. Starting over. The strange things we do when we're trying to hold everything together. The things we learn when we finally stop trying to.
It's about becoming, unbecoming, and discovering that sometimes the life you carefully planned isn't the life that ultimately teaches you who you are.
There will be humor here. There will be honesty. There will probably be a little chaos. And there will be pieces of my life I choose to keep just for me.
Because I've learned that authenticity doesn't require access to everything.
Searching for a Pineapple is simply a place to tell the stories that are mine to tell—and maybe make someone else feel a little less alone in their own messy middle.
So, am I still searching for a pineapple?
Maybe.
I'm just not convinced the pineapple is what I thought it was anymore.
Welcome back.
